Breeding Leopard Geckos 101

December 12th, 2010 by admin

Breeding Leopard Geckos 101

There are different types of lizards that one can adopt for a pet and one of those varieties that belongs to the easiest to be bred are the leopard geckos. Breeding leopard geckos enables breeding of species with unique and new physical attributes. They have striking and beautiful patterns and breeding them can result to exquisite and more superior patterns.

When breeding leopard geckos, it is of utmost importance that the male and female geckos are matured sexually. Knowing the sex of a leopard gecko is easy. When you look at its underside when you turn them over, and when you notice two pronounced hemipenal bumps or bulges behind the tail side’s opening, it is a male leopard gecko. And also, you will observe a V shape when you look on top of its opening, just between its hind legs, that is called the pre-anal pores. Hemipenal bulges doesn’t exist in female leopard geckos but you if you look closely, you will find it has pre-anal pits. Be careful not to be confused by an obese female leopard gecko because they can be sometimes mistaken for bulges that are present in male ones.

It is very important that when you breed a leopard gecko, they are of right age and weight. The minimum age for the male leopard gecko is 8 months and 45 grams in weight. And for the female leopard geckos, a minimum age of one year and 50 grams in weight.

Breeding leopard geckos is almost effortless. Leaving them in a cage is the first step. They can mate almost instantly, but there are also cases that it will take a while before they warm to one another. When this happen, all you have to do is separate them for a few days and try again.

When the leopard geckos are mating, the male geckos are quite aggressive compared to the female leopard gecko. You will also tell that the male leopard gecko will try to mate if he shakes his tail tip. One of the trait that the male leopard gecko has is he bites the female while trying to mate and will look as if they are fighting. But this is just a common behavior that can be seen in them. But when the female fights back or bites back, it means that she doesn’t like to be paired with the male leopard gecko.

The breeder should provide container that is appropriate to be lain with eggs by the female leopard gecko. The most suitable would be a humid hide container that has a suitable amount of moist bed-a-beast. The female leopard gecko, after 4 weeks will lay its first clutch of eggs, if mating is successful. A clutch means two eggs and they tend to have at least 8 clutches a year.

When the female leopard gecko succeeded in laying eggs, the eggs need to be incubated for a more vivid color in its appearance and for the sex of the baby leopard geckos. If you want to have female leopard gecko babies, a lower temperature is required for the incubator. If you desire male leopard gecko babies, higher temperature is needed, around 90 degrees. But if you want to have both male and female leopard gecko babies, the temperature that you will need is around 85 degrees.

The Albino Leopard Gecko

December 7th, 2010 by admin

The Albino Leopard Gecko

In 1991, a new variety of designer leopard geckos were first hatched; with remarkable patterns and magnificent colors that have caught attention and interests amongst pet lovers. These kinds of leopard geckos includes albinos, leucistic and in high yellows.

The albino leopard geckos have three types, i.e. Bell, Tremper, and Rainwater. When you are to breed a Rainwater albino with a Tremper albino or with a Bell, you will not get an albino gecko lizard but they will look normal because of their recessive traits.

These recessive traits are the outcome of mutations of genes that affects the leopard gecko’s development. There is no other way on how to increase the chance of discovering another recessive trait from these leopard geckos because they were randomly discovered. Luck and coincidence is needed in this kind of breeding. Typically, knowing the difference between the three types of albino lizards are tough, unless, you are an expert, but if not, educated guess is what they have.

The most common is the Tremper strain and the first to be distinguished compared to the other albino strains amongst leopard geckos. Sometimes, the brown Tremper strain leopard gecko is promoted as the “Mocha strain”. Other leopard geckos of this type are in pink and in bright colors. The colors of their eyes can also be different from one another because some have normal non-albino and looks lighter to bright red. The temperature when the eggs were first incubated can influence the outcome of their eye color and their body color. Darker colors are the result of high temperature of the incubator.

After the Tremper strain, the Rainwater albinos are the most common among three leopard gecko albino strains. One misconception about Rainwater Albinos is that their strain is pinker, but it was concluded that this is not true. The Bell strain is proven to be the one that is relatively rare. This type of leopard gecko has high contrast, the pinkness is darker compared to other leopard gecko variety.

The Bell albino can also be distinguished because they have the reddest eyes among the albino types. Commonly, the young ones have the red eye color but it will change to color beige when it matures but will be likely stay red or pinkish.

These three types of leopard geckos are very sensitive and vulnerable to bright lights. When they are exposed to bright lights, they will close their eyes so tight. That is why; most of the albino leopard geckos don’t like eating during daytime.

A big chance for new breeds of leopard geckos will surely materialize for having a leopard geckos are becoming trendy and popular among pet lovers mainly for their appearance and because they are low maintenance. Breeding leopard geckos can result to a different variety in colors, in their patterns, and in their kind in a wide range of diversity.

Train Your Puppy Not To Bite

December 2nd, 2010 by admin

Young dogs are one of the most adorable family pets on earth, but it can be an issue if they begin biting, and one that should to be resolved immediately! Quite a few owners don’t realize that this kind of behaviour can lead to issues with dominance and aggression later in the dog’s life, no matter how adorable it might seem when your puppy dog is rolling around on the floor.

As it is, the majority of puppies learn while they are still young that they must not bite, and stop before it becomes a problem. Since many puppies spend the first stages of their lives within a litter, they quickly realise that if they bite, they’ll be bitten back. Ideally a puppy should learn that it must not bite within 8 weeks of being born. The issue is that the mother doesn’t always get eight weeks to stop puppy biting.

The First 8 Weeks

If you take any puppies home which haven’t been with their mother for that first 2 months, or that have not realised that they ought not bite, then you will have to spend time training puppies not to bite.

No matter how difficult it is when training puppies never to bite, you must never hurt the puppy back. Most puppies are just playing whenever they bite and by hurting them back you are only going to make things worse.

To truly stop puppy biting, you have to address the cause of the behaviour. To be able to do this you must discourage any behaviour that is negative and encourage the puppy when it is good. You must be cautious to make certain that the puppy knows you aren’t playing games. Avoid wrestling, tug of war, or chase games that may cause nipping by the puppy.

Consistency will be very important in training your puppy. When you’re training puppies not to bite, do not let them off for any biting. Every time they bite, you must let them know they have done wrong. It’s all for their own benefit.

The Training

When you start training your puppy, make an effort to enrol them in obedience or socialization classes. These classes will educate your puppy that biting is not tolerable, in a similar method to what the mother would use. Socialization is good for many other reasons as well. It teaches your dog to react well to other dogs on the street and can reduce any aggression they demonstrate toward other dogs.

Early, when you try and stop puppy biting, reroute the behaviour to something constructive such as a chew toy or bone. Saying “No!” and giving them something different to chew and bite will teach them that it’s not okay to bite you, but that they are allowed to bite the bone or chew toy.

Another technique is letting the puppy know they have injured you by making a hurt sound. This is how they learn never to bite when they’re part of a litter. A soft whine or yip will inform the puppy that is responsible for your pain, something it doesn’t want to do. Normally, this is enough that they will stop biting you and realize they have hurt you.

Training to stop puppy biting is an extremely important section of the relocation procedure, especially when your puppy is quite young. By the point the puppy is 10 weeks old, it ought to know that biting is not allowed. It’ll make the years to come much less stressful and the risk of potential aggression in the long run much lower.

Honda goes for smaller cars to keep market share

December 1st, 2010 by admin

Since the global automobile market has yet to recover at a satisfactory pace, auto-makers have no choice but to offer smaller and cheaper cars to survive, Honda Motors president and chief executive officer Takenobu Ito said.
At the Thailand International Motor Expo yesterday, Ito told the press that the global auto market was recovering gradually, especially in key markets such as Japan and the United States, though the company hopes for it to pick up next year.

“In Asia, luckily, the auto market is experiencing high growth, and Honda hopes to increase its share in this region. We are closely watching these markets and developing products for them,” he said.

Yesterday, Honda presented the prototype for Brio, a city car that will be manufactured under the government’s eco-car programme and should go on the market next year. The Brio will be exported from Thailand to neighbouring markets, though India will manufacture enough for its own consumption.

Since the economic crisis has also affected the sale of large motorcycles, Honda is focusing on offering smaller cars and motorcycles in Thailand, Indonesia and Brazil, he said.

“Because of the crisis, it has become difficult to do business, as the automobile market has shrunk globally. This has forced auto-makers to reduce their production by 30-70 per cent, though in Asia and South America Honda still gets good support from consumers.”

Ito said motorcycle sales in the two continents were also helping. “Once the global economy recovers, Honda will concentrate on growth markets.”

Ito noted that smaller products offered lower profits. “But we still hope to offer exciting products that will drive up sales. Small cars can reach a larger number of customers because of cheaper pricing. This will help us expand, because Honda is a strong brand and has a strong following. The Brio is a good example – it is right for the Asian market and will drive growth.”

Fumihiko Ike, president of Asian Honda Motor, said the passenger-car market had grown by 10-20 per cent over the past year in Asia, and Honda was enjoying growth but in a different segment.

“The Accord, Civic and CR-V used to be our main products, but now smaller models will take over. We are ready to concentrate on small models for both domestic and export markets,” he said.

Honda is planning to introduce the Jazz Hybrid in Thailand, but it is still weighing the pros and cons, Ike said. “The hybrid market is not large yet, and though we already have the products, we need to wait for the right timing.”

Arch-rival Toyota has already launched two hybrid (petrol-electric) models in Thailand – the Camry Hybrid and the Prius.

Having to deal with a computer running slow is something that every PC user out there does not want to deal with, but often, because they are not aware of everything they can do to help restore speed and performance to their computer it goes neglected till there are so many issues the only thing you can do is rely on professional services to get your computer back up and running again.

In most cases, many of the problems our computers experience can be traced back to the computers registry. So just why is a computers registry such an important component? Well, every time a file or setting needs to be located on the hard drive the registry is the first place your computer checks to get an accurate location on the hard drive.

On average, a computer’s registry is accessed and changed hundreds of times a day. With all of those changes it becomes increasingly likely that there will be some serious issues with the entries located in the registry. As your computer goes to pull up the information about the location of a file the information will either be incorrect, out of date or simply missing. In the best situation these problems will result in your computer running slow. As the issues get worse your computer will start experiencing a larger number of problems that become much more serious and eventually make it to where your computer will simply either not function or experience blue screen errors at an increasing rate and you will not be able to use it at all.

What you really need to do in order to keep these problems under control and keep your computer running at full speed is to use a reliable system and registry scanner software. These types of software can easily be used just like good antivirus software. All you have to do is keep the software up to date and every so often you should run the software to catch any small problems before they get worse.

Not only will this get rid of registry errors but a combined system and registry scanner will also stop running malware as well. If you think you do not have malware on your computer think again. Over 90% of computer issues are caused by registry errors and an increasing number of registry errors are caused by your computer being infected with malware. If you have a computer running slow run a system and registry scan and fix it now.

Here is the answer for a Compute Running Slow this will make your PC faster.

History of christmas lights

November 26th, 2010 by admin

Christmas lights are a big part of the festive season. Houses, shops and even the streets are adorned with Christmas lights from early December through to January. Everywhere looks so much nicer lit up with Christmas lights that it is always a sad day when they have to be taken down for another year. Gathering around the Christmas tree to decorate it is one of the biggest traditions that many families have. It is a much anticipated event that children in particular look forward to.

The tradition of Christmas lights goes back a long way. Before even electricity was invented, lit candles would be used in the trees. As far back as the seventeenth century candles were attached to the tree with the use of melted candle wax. It wasn’t long before candle holders were used in place of the candle wax. It is not surprising that tree fires were common! It was the latest nineteenth century when the idea of the electric Christmas light was thought of. The assistant of Thomas Edison was the person to think of the soon to be Christmas phenomenon. The idea caught on fast and soon everyone was selling electric Christmas lights. In 1917 a new safety light was produced for the use in Christmas trees following a serious and tragic house fire caused by electric lights. It is these safety lights that have been commonly used all over the world since then.

Today there are Christmas lights sold and used across the world. A recent trend has been towards LED lights as a replacement to the traditional filament bulb. These are not only brighter and safer, but they are kinder on the environment as they use less electricity. This also makes them cheaper on the pocket too and they last a lot longer than traditional bulbs. They are becoming the most popular choice certainly when it comes to all types of fairy light and Christmas light decoration.

Anyone wishing to display lights outdoors over Christmas need to purchase a very particular kind of light – one that is designed for outside. The wind, rain and harsh elements will mean any light strung up outside needs to be designed just for this purpose and it is very dangerous to use indoor lights, outdoors. If you are interested in having a large outdoor display then you need to consider things such as wattage available and where there are sockets available. It can be a real problem if your lights keep tripping because there is too much strain on the amount of electricity available in the home.

There are a huge number of lights available for purchase today. There are plain lights, white lights, coloured lights, musical lights and lights in all sorts of shapes and sizes. There are also lights that produce different light patterns if you would like. The trick to purchasing the right type of lights is to make a quick plan before hand of what you need and ensuring you choose lights that you like. If you follow this advice then you will be able to create a beautiful effect in your home every year.

If you don’t like the idea of electronic Christmas lights then there are battery Christmas lights available instead. These are fantastic because they can be displayed absolutely anywhere, regardless of whether or not there is an electricity socket nearby or not. Whether it is Christmas tree lights you are looking for or general fairy lights to be displayed in the home, buying in bulk or buying online can save you a lot of money. Make sure you know what exactly it is you need first so you end up with the right number and types of light.

Gas Or Charcoal? Barbecues Explained

November 21st, 2010 by admin

Bbqs outdoors are popular all around the planet. They are enjoyed for the comradeship as well as the good food. Bbqs can be informal family get-togethers or complicated culinary competitions. There’s one thing each one of them have in common though, and that is the necessity of an outside barbecue grill. The bars are mounted above the fuel source which emits a powerful heat with temperatures in the 500 degree Fahrenheit range. This intense temperature is the characteristic feature of barbecuing. The two most usually used are the gas grill and the charcoal grill such as manufactured by Weber BBQ. They come in many dimensions and shapes with a variety of features.

Let’s take a look at these two kinds of outside barbecue grills.

Gas BBQ Griddles utilizes propane gas for a power source. This type of grill is frequently dearer than the charcoal grill. Propane gas bottles are pretty cheap and generally available. Just light it and place your meat on. They do not make much smoke at all but the flames will flare up, so care must be taken when choosing a safe location for your grill. The temperature can be simply controlled which is a nice feature, and makes cooking easier.

Charcoal bar-b-cue grills are the less expensive in comparison to their gas fired counterparts. You can get a little table top model or a larger one which stands on it’s own base. They are easy to put together but now and then are not exceptionally stable. The main issue with charcoal grills is that you have got to let the charcoal heat up in order for it to be sufficiently hot to cook over. Infrequently, getting the charcoal to catch fire isn’t easy either and requires the utilization of lighter liquid or fire starters, which can be a fire risk.

Charcoal barbecue grills are most probably not for you if you’d like to prepare meals in a hurry or need a consistent cooking temperature. Charcoal grills create smoke and have flames which flare up and should be placed in a safe location and never used indoors. Charcoal grills are intensely preferred and are straight forward to move which makes them the logical choice for camping trips and the occasional outside barbecue.

Before deciding on which barbecue you wish to purchase, make sure you visit Hank Campbell’s site about Weber BBQ’s. Grill chef Hank Campbell is married with five grown-up children and lives with his wife of 35 years in Atlanta GA.

What Makes a Good Logo?

November 19th, 2010 by admin

There are hundreds of articles on this subject but I thought I’d create my own version for readers. I thought I’d start this article for people in search of a new logo. A new logo can be tough to get right, you as the client need to know what you have in mind and what sort of image you want to give to potential customers. You wouldn’t walk into hairdressers and say to them “I don’t know… make it look good” without even giving some preference to a kind of style you like, short, long, wavy etc… So the same principle applies when you are in need of a logo. This could be something as small as the colour scheme you wish to use to as much as sketching your own idea and giving it to the designer. I’ve had clients sketch a full page of ideas and pick out three they’ve wanted me to design along with the colours and I’ve also had clients who have just said “I want it to be red and blue”.

So what does make the perfect logo?

To start with I am going to break it down into 3 factors:

Simple

Effective

Appropriate

Obviously it can be broken down into more factors but I’ll focus on these three main factors.

#1 Simple

I’m going to start with simplicity as it really is the make or break point when choosing a logo. A good logo shouldn’t be too busy. Busy logos are those that have more than one “concept” to it, a good designer will focus on a concept that represents your company while keeping things simple. This however does not mean you have to choose a concept that you specialise in, for example a DIY store doesn’t need to have a tool in the logo nor does a car store have to have a car in the logo.

The perfect example of this is the “Swoosh”, in sportswear brand Nike.

The Nike logo is a very simple yet effective logo. Even without the brand name, the “Swoosh” alone is recognizable and memorable worldwide. It was created by a graphic design student back in 1971 for a new athletic brand now known as Nike.

A good example of this is the Nike logo. The main thing that represents Nike is the Tick design AKA “Swoosh” design. The Swoosh represents the wing in the famous statue of the Greek Goddess of victory although not many people are aware of this. We all recognize the design as a swoosh for speed and as Nike are known worldwide for providing sports shoes it represents the company well. The swoosh is known notoriously worldwide whilst the company continues to strive and get bigger, it’s the perfect example of a simple yet very successful logo.

#2 Effective

This one is a given and I won’t need to explain it much. A good logo needs to be effective/unique in a sense that, it needs to sink it’s teeth into your brain.

Unless you’ve invented a new spaceship that lands people on the moon for £20 per person then you’re going to have competition in whichever business or industry you part-take in. For this reason you will need a logo that is not only simple but also effective and makes people remember it whenever it isn’t staring them in the face. I’ve chosen the LG logo for this example.

I personally love the LG logo, it is a logo that sticks in your head and is memorable wherever you go. It’s simple and yet very effective, which is the factors that make a good logo. The designer incorporated the L and the G to into a face which represents the companies name “Life’s Good”.

Logos aren’t just used on web, a logo will be used anywhere to represent the company. There is no point in having a logo that looks amazing on a webpage but when transferred to print is not versatile. There are many factors that come into play when deciding an effective logo, you need to think “Will it look good on print?” then there’s “What happens if I want it printed in black and white?” oh and also “Will my logo look good enlarged for a poster?” Make sure you consider all of the possible factors and criteria when choosing a logo for your business.

#3 Appropriate

Last but certainly not least is appropriate. Every logo needs to be appropriate for the type of business it portrays. An accountant isn’t going to want a baby incorporated into the logo, like-wise an online baby store isn’t going to want a pen or calculator incorporated into their logo. This however is common sense. A good logo will need to have the appropriate font, colours and concept all whilst keeping things simple. The perfect example to give is the Disney logo.

An appropriate logo must suit the business it stands for, Disney achieves this by a milestone. My first opinion of the logo when you look at it is the childishness of it all. The inaccurate lines, the scribbled “dot” and the plain colour. It’s perfect for a children’s entertainment company. It wouldn’t really work to have cooperate colours and a times new roman font now would it? It does however fit in perfectly for children.

Any logo must represent the company in an appropriate way, this is one of the most important factors you need to decide on when choosing a logo for your company.

We have a winner!

I tried to stay away from this but with no doubt the logo that achieves all of these factors is the Apple logo. I know… I know, I tried to keep myself from mentioning it but it is a perfect example of a good logo. It’s simple, effective and highly appropriate as the company is called Apple. The apple logo is something that will withstand the test of time and in 50 years still be memorable.

Thanks for reading,

James.
